Shillong, Oct 28: After being held over from last weekend due to heavy rain, the Border Security Force’s half marathon took place in Shillong today, with around 600 participants.
The women’s category was dominated by Meghalaya Police (SF-10) personnel, with Siba Syngkli taking first place with a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 47 seconds, Amelish Nongrum in second (2hr, 5min, 42sec) and Daphira Rani third (2hr, 13min, 2sec).
The men’s category was won by Anish Thapa (1hr, 17min, 13sec). Just behind in second came Krishna Bahadur Thapa (1hr, 17min, 50sec), while Chitra Bahadur Thapa was third (1hr, 18min, 15sec).
Other top runners were also awarded consolation prizes.
The BSF had organised the 21km race to pay homage to the force’s martyrs of Meghalaya and felicitate their families. The race was flagged off by Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya Dinesh Maheshwari distributed the prizes to the winners.
