U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, Round 4
Shillong, Dec 20: Bihar had a near perfect second day in their U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Meghalaya, dismissing the hosts for a paltry 75 before hitting 199/4 declared to set Meghalaya a massive 424 to win.
At stumps the host team were on 8/0 with an entire last day tomorrow to bat out.
Resuming play on 2/1 in their first innings, Meghalaya’s top order were harassed by Reshu Raj (4-23), while Raushan made merry among the lower order, finishing with 5-6 in 7.4 overs. Only three Meghalaya batsmen made it to double figures, with captain Rushikesh Jadhav top-scoring with 29.
Bihar scored at a quick pace for most of their second innings as they looked to set Meghalaya an insurmountable target.
Opener Arnav Kishor executed this strategy well, getting to his century in 152 deliveries, with eight fours and two sixes and the visitors declared after he reached his unbeaten ton.
Jadhav picked up 2-52, but there was little in the way to stop a rampant Bihar.
Meghalaya had to face four overs before stumps and they saw this through without any loss, though they will have an absolute mountain to climb to survive the final day tomorrow.
