Shillong, Dec 26: After an invigorating group stage that witnessed an incredible 127 goals scored over three dozen matches, the final four teams that have qualified for the semifinal stage will go up against each other in the first leg in Jowai and Bhoirymbong on Wednesday.
Both last-four games will kick off at 1:00pm.
In Jowai, the winners of Group A (Niaw Wasa) will take on those from Group D (Druma Sandruma), while Langsning (Group B) will go up against Tynrongmawsaw (Group C) in Bhoirymbong.
Druma Sandruma are the only side to have qualified after picking up maximum points from their group fixtures. The Garo Hills-based team first benefited from a walkover against A’tong Matgrik before winning on the pitch 4-1 against Ampati SC, 10-0 versus Warima and 5-0 against Resu Conventus.
Niaw Wasa, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw with Jalaphet Lumsachram, but won all of their other matches handsomely – 4-0 against Umkiang, 6-1 against Raliang and 7-1 over Umlatkhur.
Langsning had to play one less match compared to the other teams as there were only four clubs in Group B, but theirs was a highly anticipated group as it also contained Rangdajied United. Langsning smashed past Shilliang Umdoh 7-0 in the tournament opener and then 8-0 over Pyndem Umbri, which gave them a healthy enough goal difference over Rangdajied to qualify for the knockout stage.
Finally, Tynrongmawsaw won their opening three encounters, including a 5-0 triumph over Malki. 1-0 victories over Mawten and Pyndengrei saw them comfortably over the line from the group, with a 1-1 draw against Madan Bynther coming after they were confirmed as the top team.
