Shillong, Jan 9: Six Meghalaya basketball coaches passed the coaching training programmes conducted by FIBA (International Basketball Federation) and the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC), while two referees passed their B-panel exams conducted by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).

This was revealed by the Meghalaya Basketball Association (MBA) through a press release earlier this month.

Andrew Suting and Sanju Das received their FIBA Level-1 coaching certification after a course held in Aizawl from 30th October to 5th November. Suting also passed the WABC Level-1 coaching certification course held in Bangalore earlier last year.

Dulon Banjop Kharsati also passed the WABC Level-1 coaching certification course in Pondicherry in May. In November three further Meghalaya coaches – Ialambha Kharbhih, Larihun Warjri and Earl Francis Lyngdoh – passed theirs in Aizawl.

The two new qualified referees from Meghalaya are Ronald Kharumnuid and R Khrawbok Khongliar, who passed an exam conducted by the BFI in Hyderabad in July. The total number of qualified referees in the state has thus risen to 11, the MBA informed.
