Shillong, Jul 29: One hundred shuttlers took part in the 4th East Khasi Hills District Open Badminton Championship, which was held here on 26th to 28th July at the JN Indoor Stadium.

The tournament generated a good amount of enthusiasm among the players of East Khasi Hills from the different age categories. The intention of the tournament was to encourage budding new talents in the sport.

There were several categories, namely U-13 (singles), U-15 (singles), U-17 (singles), U-19 (singles and doubles), seniors (singles and doubles) and mixed doubles. All categories had male and female participants.

The 105 matches were of high standard and very competitive and proved thrilling for the spectators.

Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling was the chief guest on the final day.
