Shillong, Aug 1: Defending champions Langsning started the Shillong Premier League on a good note with a comfortable 3-0 win over Nangkiew Irat at the JN Stadium here today.
Langsning scored through Banteilang Shylla in the 21st minute, Kitboklang Pale in the 27th minute and Brolington Warlarpih in second half stoppage time for a convincing start to their campaign.
Nangkiew goalkeeper Maitshaphrang Kharumnuid produced a fantastic save early on to deny Langsning, but there was no stopping the champions when Pale made a quick run into the opposition box and passed right for Shylla to open the scoring in the 21st minute.
From providing the first goal, Pale soon became the scorer of the second in the 27th minute when he took a long range shot that looped over Kharumnuid’s head and into the goal.
Nangkiew also had their chances but Langsning goalie Frolicson Dkhar had a good day under the bar and make a couple of important saves in the first half.
The best chance for Nangkiew came after a big foul on Richanlang Sympli on the edge of the box, which saw the player stretchered off. Damehun Syih’s free-kick was blocked, however, and the rebound went into the side of the net.
Nangkiew then conceded a foul of their own and this was in their own penalty box, which captain Warlarpih converted with ease.
Tomorrow Wahingdoh will face Nongkrem in the First Division at 4PM.
