Shillong, Aug 18: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh visited the site of the International Multi-Sports Stadium and Football Stadium at Ampati in South West Garo Hills on Thursday to inspect and review the progress of construction in connection with the 2022 National Games.
During the inspection, the minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, Matsiewdor War Nongbri, district police chief, BSW Momin and other officials as well as Subhash Jhunjhunwala, Director of JC Infra Corporation Ltd, the company that has been tasked with the project, which has an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore.
Lyngdoh laid stress on the need to complete the massive sporting infrastructure within the stipulated time of three years, according to a press release by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations.
The site, located at Bolsalgre, on the outskirts of Ampati, covers an area of 16 acres. During his visit, the minister also briefly interacted with members of the families of Bolsalgre-Bandoraja A·king who donated their land for the purpose.
