Shillong, Sep 7: The line-up of the finals of the maiden Laban SC Invitational Futsal Tournament 2018 have been finalised, with Shillong College to face St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in the title match at the Laban SC Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.
The finalists of the veterans’ competition – Meghalaya Swimming Association (MSA) and Gladiators – will face off at 9AM tomorrow, followed by the final of the main competition at 10:30AM. The closing ceremony will then follow.
Shillong College topped Group A by beating OM Roy School Mawlai 8-5, thus booking their place in the final of the main competition.
St Anthony’s HSS then resoundingly defeated Lawsohtun 9-4 to emerge as the clear top team from Group B.
Both finals should be entertaining affairs. The veterans’ division has seen plenty of good contests and it’s too close to call between the MSA and Gladiators. Similarly, despite being a school teams, St Anthony’s have shown their mettle to get so far and will not make it easy on their seniors in Shillong College.
