Shillong, Feb 25: Six runners from Run Meghalaya took part in yesterday’s New Delhi Marathon with great results once again.

Darishisha Iangjuh became the first female runner from Meghalaya to run in the elite (professional) category and placed a commendable fourth with a time of 3 hours, 23 minutes, 45 seconds.

In the men’s open category, Tlanding Wahlang (2h:34m:57s) took first place overall with Kresstarjune Pathaw in second place around two minutes further behind (2:36:44).

Additionally Arbet Nonglang came seventh in the marathon after crossing the finish line in a time of 3 hours, 1 minute, while Dr Caroline Lyngdoh was fourth in the 10km race after 57 minutes.

All of the above runners were supported by Run Meghalaya.

Additionally, Batsrang A Sangma won the open category of the half marathon with a time of 1:10:22, beating second-placed Kushmesh Kumar in a close run to the finish line by 13 seconds. Sangma’s time was a little over one minute behind that of the elite category champion.

“We congratulate the entire team for their stupendous achivement today,” Run Meghalaya said in a Facebook post.
