Shillong, Mar 24: Meghalaya’s bowlers turned in another good day, but a batting collapse led to a 135-run defeat to Bihar in their U-23 Women’s One-Day League plate group match in Bhubaneshwar today.

Bihar won the toss and batted first, but they were restricted to 174/9 in their 50 overs. Five out of the six bowlers used by Meghalaya took wickets today, with captain Debasmita Dutta finishing with 2/25. The others who bagged a wicket each were Solina Jaba (1/23), Deiphi Lyngdoh Mawnai (1/30), Daiaka Warjri (1/36) and Neelam Roy (1/37). Three wickets were also taken through run outs, effected by Jaba, Deimaphishisha Lamare and Suruti Kumari Ray.

Bihar’s bowling, however, proved too much of a challenge and Meghalaya were skittled for 39, with Dutta the only batsman to get into double figures with an innings of 18.

Meghalaya will play their next match on 28th March against Uttarakhand, who are leading the plate group with four straight wins.
