Shillong, Apr 3: Meghalaya won their second consecutive match of the U-23 Women’s One-Day League plate group by beating Manipur by six wickets in Bhubaneshwar today.

Another solid all-round performance by Meghalaya captain Debasmita Dutta saw the team over the line.

She took 3/14 in 10 overs as Manipur were restricted to 141/7 in their 50 overs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first.

The others among the wickets were Daiaka Warjri (2/34), Solina Jaba (1/30) and Luiza Tamang (1/30). While not taking a wicket, Deiphi Lyngdoh Mawnai was the most economical, conceding just 12 runs in her 10 overs.

Manipur were able to peg Meghalaya back with a couple of early strikes in the chase, but Deima Lamare and Dutta were able to add 49 for the third wicket.

The Dutta and Suruti Kumari Ray fourth wicket partnership continued the good work and eventually counted for 56 runs before Ray was dismissed for 11.

Dutta, who finished unbeaten on 69, then saw out the remaining runs to get with Warjri as Meghalaya reached 144/4 in 46.1 overs.

Meghalaya will play their final match against Puducherry on Friday.
