Shillong, May 9: Modern Learning Academy School, Sohra, and Rising Sun HS School, Mawryngkneng, won the girls’ and boys’ titles respectively at the Inter School Cricket Tournament at Mawkdok Ground today.
The tournament was organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association. The boys’ competition is named after the late Benjamin Diengdoh.
In the girls’ final Modern Learning Academy won the toss and chose to bat first, making a massive 186/4 in their 20 overs, with player-of-the-tournament Dislinda Lyngdoh Mawlot hitting 54 off 53 deliveries. Government UP School were then bowled out for 48 in 11.1 overs, with Mawlot taking 4/9, giving Modern Learning Academy a 136-run victory.
In the boys’ final, RKM HS School chose to bat first after winning the toss but were restricted to 118/9 in their 20 overs. Mehraf Sarkar top-scored with 20, while player-of-the-tournament Medonryngkat Sari claimed 5/23. In reply Rising Sun secured a last-over victory, making 119/8 in 19.3 overs. Player-of-the-match Maialang War made a run-a-ball 35.
