Shillong, May 30: Nongrim Hills held off some immense, if ragged, pressure from Lawsohtun to hold on to a 2-1 win in the U-18 Shillong Premier League at Third Ground, Polo, today.
This was Nongrim’s first victory, while Lawsohtun are still without a win after three games.
Dondorlang L Nonglait scored the fastest goal of the season so far, by finding the back of the net in the fifth minute and his team mate Bestparlang Nongrang doubled the lead half an hour later.
Lawsohtun then pulled a goal back through Jerius Khongshling in the 61st minute following a corner kick.
The dying minutes saw Lawsohtun try everything to find the equaliser, but their attempts were a little wayward and a little too rushed.
Nongrim, in fact, almost bagged a couple more goals, but Phibankhrawbok Nongkhlaw’s direct free-kick was palmed over the bar by Lawsohtun goalkeeper Iohborlang Wahlang put the ball out for a corner, while Shanbha Nongrum crashed another ball into the outside part of the net.
Tomorrow Nangkiew Irat are scheduled to play Nongkrem at 3:45PM.
