Shillong, Jun 8: Meghalaya got their Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship off to a rolling start with a 5-1 victory over Kerala in Cuttack today.

Meghalaya dominated the first half and scored all five of their goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Sunalinda Iawren first pierced the Kerala defence in the fifth minute and Sanfida Nongrum then scored a brace of goals in the eighth and 14th minutes.

Meghalaya did not have to wait too long to extend their lead, scoring twice more through Darishisha Kharlyngdoh (17′) and Fragrancy Riwan (20′).

The second half saw Kerala try hard to pressure the Meghalaya defence and they found one goal to reduce the margin.

Meghalaya will next play Jammu & Kashmir on 12th June.
