Shillong, Jun 10: The Shillong Sports Association’s new Fourth Division, the lowest rung in their football calendar, began today at Second Ground, Polo, where Madanrting and Umsohsun played out a 1-1 draw in the 70-minute match.
K Kharkongor scored early for Madanrting in the fourth minute, but Umsohsun had a surprise in store when they took a shot from the kick-off spot immediately after and the ball took a deflection and went into the net, with the goal going to P Iawphniaw.
Ten teams taking part have been split between two groups.
In Group A are Madanrting SC, Umsohsun SC, Diliengiem YSCWA, Lawmei SC and Nongrah SC.
Group B consists of Mawphlang SC, Rynjah SC, Lumpyngngad SC, Green Age Club and Laitlulong SS&CC.
Five members of each team are allowed to be of any age category, but the remainder must be U-20.
Tomorrow Diliengiem are scheduled to take on Lawmei at 4PM.
