Eugeneson to leave ATK for Bengaluru: reports

Shillong, Jun 14: After two injury-blighted seasons at ATK, Eugeneson Lyngdoh is likely to return to his old club Bengaluru FC, Goal.com has reported.

Although he was signed up by ATK for a mammoth Rs 1.1 crore in the 2017 Indian Super League draft, Lyngdoh then suffered a massive setback by tearing his lateral collateral ligament in his left knee.

During the long recovery progress, the Meghalaya midfielder threw himself into promoting grassroots sport, most famously by entering a team in last year’s Meghalaya Baby League at which he made several personal appearances cheering on his players.

Lyngdoh, though, struggled to get into ATK’s first eleven even after making his recovery, and only played a total of eight ISL games in two seasons for the struggling side, who haven’t made it to the playoffs in the last two years.

ATK had snapped him up from Bengaluru and now Goal.com is reporting that Lyngdoh could be heading back to happy hunting grounds for him.

With the Blues, Lyngdoh has won two Federation Cup titles and one I-League as well as getting to the final of the AFC Cup in 2016, which was a first for an Indian club.
