Shillong, Jun 18: Mawkhar picked up their fourth win of the U-18 Shillong Premier League season with a 3-1 result over Lawsohtun at the JN Stadium, Polo, today.
Lawsohtun goalkeeper Iohborlang Wahlang made several good saves throughout the first half (one example pictured) to frustrate a Mawkhar side that was clearly the more attacking.
However, Banehskhem Khongsdam got the breakthrough early in the second half (48’) and then there was a flurry of goals in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Densil Kongwang doubled the lead in the 80th minute and Aenam Jyrwa made it 3-0 in the 83rd.
However, Mawkhar couldn’t hold on to their clean sheet, with Lawsohtun’s Freddy Rani pulling a goal back two minutes later.
Mawkhar thus move into second place with 13 points, while Lawsohtun remain at the bottom with one point.
Tomorrow Smit are scheduled to take on Shillong Lajong at Third Ground, while Nangkiew Irat are scheduled to face Rangdajied United at the JN Stadium. Both matches will start at 3:45PM.
