Shillong, Aug 4: The 27th Inter-School & 9th Inter-College Karate Tournament concluded at the Laban Indoor Stadium here yesterday.
The three-day annual tournament began on Thursday and 428 karatekas from 61 schools and nine colleges took part.
The All Meghalaya Karate-do Association also felicitated Linza Fenny Syiem on her appointment as coach of the Indian women’s team at the recently-concluded 16th AKF Senior Karate Championship and also for achieving a diploma as kumite coach from the Asian Karate Federation after an exam in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last month.
KHADC Chairman PN Syiem was the chief guest and Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John Kharshiing the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. At the closing, senior state karateka Alan N Niangti was the chief guest.
