Shillong, Aug 6: Smit reclaimed provisional top spot in the First Division with a 1-0 victory over Sawmer at the JN Stadium here today.

B Khriam’s 54th minute goal for Smit was the only one of the match.

This was a morale-boosting victory for Smit, who had started the season positively with two wins before losing their next two. They now have nine points from five games.

Sawmer, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat today. They would’ve come into this fixture in a positive frame of mind after blitzing Nongkrem 9-2 last week, but couldn’t find a way past Smit today. Sawmer have seven points from four outings, the same as Mawkhar.

Tomorrow, Marbisu are scheduled to take on Imson at 3:45PM.
