Shillong, Aug 13: Goalkeeper Phurba Tempa Lachenpa has made the switch from Shillong Lajong to Real Kashmir.
The 21-year-old from Sikkim has played in two seasons of the I-League with Lajong and is currently featuring in Real Kashmir’s campaign for the Durand Cup where one of his team mates is Meghalaya lad Chesterpaul Lyngdoh.
Lachenpa made his I-League debut on 27th November 2017 against Gokulam Kerala. He has played in 22 I-League matches for SLFC, won three man-of-the-match awards, kept six clean sheets and accumulated nearly 1,900 minutes on the pitch.
Real Kashmir have won their first two matches in Group C of the Durand Cup, first defeating Chennaiyin FC 1-0 before trouncing Army Green 4-0. Lachenpa has been in goal on both occasions while Lyngdoh, who has moved to the Snow Leopards from Churchill Brothers, had scored a brace in the latter game.
Real Kashmir, especially players who hail from Jammu & Kashmir, have won admiration for the way they have taken to the pitch despite political turmoil in their home state.
