Shillong, Aug 18: The Meghalaya U-14 boys’ football team, represented by District War Sepngi Christian Higher Secondary School, are in New Delhi for the final round of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup.
Meghalaya are in Group H along with Nagaland, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and will play their first match against Nagaland on 21st August. They then get a one-day break before playing three matches in three days (see fixtures below).
District War Sepngi Christian Higher Secondary School won the state-level Subroto Cup in their age category by defeating Khliehumstem Presbyterian Secondary School 2-1 in the final in Shillong on 3rd August. Two of their players won individual awards – Sainpyniar Lyngdoh as Best Player and Banshailang Kharjana as Best Goalkeeper.
The team is led by coach Kitbor Kharkongor and manager Ferdinand Nongkynrih.
