U-17 girls exit after narrow quarterfinal defeat

Shillong, Sep 3: The U-17 Meghalaya boys’ football team, represented by H Elias Higher Secondary School, will head off to New Delhi on Wednesday to take part in the final round of the Subroto Cup.

H Elias were 6-1 winners against Church of God Secondary School in the state-level final last month.

Meghalaya are in Group C and will take on Sikkim in their first game on 7th September.

Meanwhile, the girls’ U-17 team went down to Assam by a solitary goal in the quarterfinal round. The U-14 boys’ team had also bowed out in the last-eight stage.

At the send-off today Sports & Youth Affairs Deputy Director Jeebon Marak and Assistant Director Jasper Marak along with East Khasi Hills District Sports Officer Daniel Dan were present.

The team will be led by coach Bobby L Nongbet and manager Benjamin Lyngdoh.
