Shillong, Nov 9: Meghalaya lost to Puducherry by just 19 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today.
Meghalaya’s opening match against Haryana was abandoned yesterday.
After winning the toss Meghalaya opted to field and restricted Puducherry to 126/6 in the allotted 20 overs. The wickets that fell were shared between Amiangshu Sen (3/20) and Kilco Marak (3/25).
Meghalaya had a bad start in the chase, losing the first three wickets for just 14 runs before guest-professionals Ravi Teja (51) and Sanjay Yadav (31) put on 74 for the fourth wicket. However, Yadav’s dismissal in the 18th over and Teja’s in the 20th left the remaining batsmen with too much to do and Meghalaya finished on 107/6.
