Shillong, Jul 8: The Shillong Cricket Association raised a sum of Rs 72,500 from members and clubs and donated these funds to community quarantine centres set up in different localities in and around the city.

Seven centres – in Jaiaw Laitdom, Mawlai Iewrynghep, Martin Luther Christian University and four schools – received the donations. Six were given Rs 10,000 each, while one received Rs 12,500.

“We decided that we should directly support the needful,” SCA General Secretary Amit Singhania said in a press release today. “And we zeroed in on the community quarantine centres set up in different localities for people returning from outside and managed exclusively by people of the locality/dorbar shnong.”

These centres have been very well managed by the localities and accredited social health activists (ASHA), the SCA release added, and every care is taken to fulfil the needs and requirements of those quarantined.
