Shillong, Aug 20: Samuel Shadap has followed his old Punjab FC coach Yan Law to Second Division League side Mohammedan Sporting for the new season, the Kolkata club announced on social media.

The 27-year-old defender played in 11 I-League matches under Law for Punjab FC in 2019-20 while on loan from Kerala Blasters. He had joined the Blasters from Shillong Lajong in 2017.

Mohammedan will be aiming to qualify for the next edition of the I-League once football restarts in the country, first beginning with the Second Division League.

Last year the Kolkata side had three Meghalayan players in their ranks – Stephanson Pale, Joy Mrong Kharraswai and Eijingmut Lyngdoh. That year Mohammedan were not able to progress to the final round of the competition whose champions are promoted to the I-League.

Under Law Punjab finished third in the standings and Mohammedan, who hired him at the end of last month, will hope he can get the old club back into the I-League.
