Shillong, Sep 11: The Meghalaya Cricket Association has named 12 new selectors for the various categories of cricket, it was revealed through a press release today.
The names were nominated and approved in the MCA’s Apex Council meeting on 5th September, MCA Honorary Secretary Gideon Kharkongor said in the statement.
Each individual will serve as a selector for a term of three years.
Meanwhile, the MCA also said that it has written to the state government to allow cricket practice to restart. “A detailed 100-page” list of standard operating procedures from the BCCI and an additional list of SOPs from the MCA have been submitted to the government.
There are serious doubts, however, that the BCCI will be able to hold domestic cricket this season with cases of Covid-19 spiralling out of control in the country. The governing body had planned to reduce the length of the domestic season by axing the Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and several of the women’s events, but the coronavirus pandemic has only worsened since that decision was taken. Today it was reported that the BCCI had postponed its annual general meeting, supposed to be held on 30th September, because of the pandemic.
