Shillong, Mar 20: The first event of the Meghalaya Golf Promoters Society’s Junior and Amateur Tour 2021 teed off today morning at the Shillong Golf Course.
The first day of the two-day tournament saw 14 junior golfers across three categories take part. The second and final round will be played on 27th March, with the prize distribution the following day.
In Category 1, Thongvanglen Hangsing finished on the first day with a score of 91, followed by Sidhant Singhania on 94 and Shaurya Goenka on 102.
Da-I-Paya Dkhar led in Category 2 with 52, ahead of Shivaai Agarwal (55), Deep Bajaj (56), Ryan Pargal Lyngdoh (59), Muskan Singhania (65) and Pratham Jhunjhunwala (70).
In Category 3, five-year-old Aryan Bajaj displayed a stunning performance and is leading by 12 strokes on 31, followed by Mamatwa Jhunjhunwala on 43 and Sharanya Bajaj on 45.
The tour was inaugurated in the morning by MGPS Executive Member Rocky Hek.
The event has been conceptualised and is conducted by the MGPS, which is the state association for golf in Meghalaya, with the support of the Shillong Club (Golf Section). The MGPS is affiliated to the Indian Golf Union.
