Shillong, Mar 28: The first event of the Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society’s Junior and Amateur Tour 2021 concluded at the Shillong Golf Course yesterday.

The two-day tournament saw 14 junior participants across three junior categories.

Thongvanglen Hangsing won the Category 1 event, with Da-I-Paya Dkhar first in Category 2 and five-year-old Sharanya Bajaj in Category 3. Ryan Pargal Lyngdoh was declared Best Budding Golfer.

This event has been conceptualised and conducted by the MGPS, which is the state association for golf in Meghalaya, with the support of the Shillong Club (Golf Section). The MGPS is affiliated to the Indian Golf Union.

The first round was played on 20th March and the second and final round was held yesterday with the prize distribution ceremony today. Cabinet minister AL Hek was the chief guest today, while the guests of honour were Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John F Kharshiing and former top Indian golfer Indrajit Bhalotia (who attended virtually).
