Shillong, Sep 19: John F Kharshiing (pictured), the President of the Shooting Association of Meghalaya, has been elected as one of eight Vice-Presidents of the National Rifle Association of India, it was revealed today. He thus becomes the first ever NRAI VP from the North East.

Neil Sootinck, the General Secretary of SAM, was also elected to the governing body, which will serve until 2025.

The NRAI elections were held yesterday in Mohali, Punjab. Raninder Singh was re-elected to an unprecedented fourth term as President.

Kanwar Sultan Singh was elected unopposed as the Secretary General of the national shooting body, while Randeep Mann has been made the Treasurer. Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo was also elected unopposed will continue to be the federation’s Senior Vice-President while there was election for the post of eight Vice-Presidents, of which Kharshiing was one of those chosen.

Sixteen members of the governing body were also elected, of which Sootinck was one, SAM said in a press release.
