Shillong, Oct 2: Niaw Wasa became the champions of the inaugural Meghalaya State Futsal League by defeating Ryntih 10-6 in the final here today.

As champions, they thus qualified for the National Futsal League, which Meghalaya has the honour of hosting next month.

The first half saw Niaw Wasa pull out a 3-0 lead but Ryntih were able to get on the scoreboard in the second half but their opponents were always able to keep their noses in front.

To get to the final, Ryntih emerged out of Group A and then came from behind to defeat Shillong Lajong in the semifinals. Niaw Wasa, meanwhile, topped Group C before blazing through the last-four against Little Star Academy.

Semifinals

As victors Niaw Wasa received Rs 30,000 while runners-up Ryntih were awarded Rs 20,000.
