Shillong, Oct 20: Six games were played today in the 1st Veteran Basketball Championship, organised by the East Khasi Hills District Basketball Association, at St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School here.
Teams went all out as the battle for the semifinal places hotted up.
The first game between Iaineh SC against 99 Problems was a neck-and-neck contest. Iaineh took an early lead in the first quarter, but 99 Problems’ Gavin Diengdoh made his presence felt with 10 points as they came back from behind to take the lead in the fourth quarter of the game. However, Iaineh kept their cool and with the experience they had retook the lead and defeated 99 Problems by one point.
Splash and SYM were the top teams of their respective groups in the women’s category as they are still undefeated. Eastern Range and Nongstoin Ballers (pictured playing against Madanrting) then ended the evening with a win.

SYM (Yolinda Hynniewta 23 pts) beat Sparkles (June Marai 10 pts); Splash (Rashmi Laloo 13 pts) beat Jowai Ballers (Dikori 5 pts)
