Shillong, Nov 4: Meghalaya celebrated a 51-run victory over Jammu & Kashmir in the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy Plate Group in Kolkata today.
J&K won the toss and chose to field first and claimed the two opening wickets of Luiza Tamang (21) and Neha Hajong (12) for 41 runs.
Guest players Vaincy Chaudhary and Rajni Lodhi (pictured) then had a terrific partnership, as they batted for 33.4 overs together while putting on 153 runs. Chaudhary was eventually dismissed for 84 (eight fours) and Lodhi for 60 (six fours) as Meghalaya made 209/6 in 50 overs.
In the chase, J&K were restricted to 158/7 in their allotted overs. Deiphibapynshngain Lyngdoh Mawnai bagged 2/31 while there was a scalp each for Lodhi (1/11), Riticia Nongbet (1/26) and Ajima Sangma (1/33).
Meghalaya’s next and final group match will be against Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.
