Shillong, Jan 9: Lumpyngngad CC will meet Mawsynram in the final of the Shillong Cricket Association’s Third Division tomorrow.
Both sides got through their respective semifinal matches today and thus gained promotion to next season’s Second Division as well.
In the first match, Lumpyngngad won the toss and elected to bat first against Elite CC, making 156/6 in 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Akash Dutta (66) was the top scorer. Three of the wickets to fall were claimed by Ravi Kumar (3/30). In reply, Elite CC were all out for 115 in 18.4 overs, with Kidlee Nongkhlaw (2/17) and Dutta (2/23) grabbing a brace of wickets apiece.
The second semi was between Mawjam CC and Mawsynram. After winning the toss, Mawjam chose to bat first but were dismissed for 94 in 16.4 overs despite George Kharbuli’s 37 from 23 deliveries. Da-u Labiang Shangpliang claimed 3/20 and Rickystone Nongbet 2/25. Mawsynram lost five wickets in the chase but came home with 3.5 overs to spare. Shangpliang was named man-of-the-match.
