Shillong, Feb 15: Sohiong took provisional first place in Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division with a 2-1 victory over Nongkrem at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
Nongkrem claimed the early advantage through Ioanis Chyrmang (13′) but Sohiong fought their way back, scoring through Arbun Warjri (24′) a few minutes later. His was the 50th goal of the Second Division this year.
Govanwell Malngiang then scored the winner for Sohiong in the 73rd minute.
This was Nongkrem’s maiden defeat of the campaign and it saw them overtaken by Sohiong in the points table. The latter now lead by 8 points to Nongkrem’s 7.
