Shillong, Feb 18: Jongksha came from two goals to one down to register a 5-2 victory over Lumshyiap in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
Sparkle Khongshei gave Jongksha the lead in the 21st minute but Lumshyiap replied twice through Aldo Max Nongneng (28′) and Damanbha Kharthangmaw (31′).
The last 30 minutes of the game belonged to Jongksha, however, as they scored four goals in this period thanks to Bhabok Nongspung (60′, 81′), Khongshei again (61′) and Skhembor Myrthong (87′).
The result means that Lumshyiap’s chances of a semifinal spot came to an end as they remain stuck on 6 points. Jongksha, now with 5 points, still have one game remaining and still an outside chance of making to the semis, though they need to win their last match and hope that Marbisu (7 points) lose tomorrow.
