Shillong, Mar 18: The West Jaintia Hills Wushu Association has expressed pride in its fighters for taking seven medals at the recently-concluded 19th Meghalaya State Level Wushu Championship.

The event was organised by the Meghalaya Wushu Association in Shillong last week. There were 147 participants from around the state.

Martial artists from West Jaintia Hills who won medals were Obadaia Kelphung (gold), Sanjiovanni Bho (silver), Fivestar Bareh (silver), Bantiplang Khongwir (silver), Ricky Mukhim (bronze), Juh pa u juh Nongtdu (bronze), Decent Sungoh (bronze).

In addition, there was one official from the district officiating at the championship – Satisfy Syngkon.

The two-day event was closed by cabinet minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare (second right).

The WJHWA also expressed its thanks to Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla for supporting the association at the tournament.
