Shillong, Mar 20: Lamare FC (pictured) absolute blazed past Mawmluh Shi Dose in the second round of the 1st Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament, organised by the Seng Samla Smit Pyllun and Smit SC, yesterday by winning the match 7-1.
Paraladei FC, meanwhile, required penalties to defeat Nangkiew Umiew FC 3-2 after regulation time finished 2-2.
Lamare had received a bye in the first round and had seven different scorers today – Dajied Wanshnong (6′), Brolington Warlarpih (30′ penalty), Freestar Kharbangar (50′), Donlad Diengdoh (55′), Fullmoon Mukhim (59′), man-of-the-match Robert Khongriah (62′) and Manbha Iawphniaw (66′). One goal was scored by Mawmluh’s Harvester Nongdhar in the 61st minute.
Earlier, Nangkiew Umiew found the opener in the 27th minute via Ming Suting but Wanlamsuk Nongkhlaw (45′) equalised before half time. The Umiew team again took the lead in the 64th minute through Pynkhlain Nongrum but Paraladei clawed their way back again three minutes later with a second equaliser by Maitshaphrang Kharumnuid.
The 2-2 score at the whistle meant that penalties were called for and here Paraladei held their nerve to claim the win. Pynkhlain was named man-of-the-match, the tournament’s Organising Secretary Syntem Kamwamut Nengnong informed.
The next match will be on 25th March at 1PM between Umphrup SC and Umphyrnai SC. The following day, Real Mythic of Smit will face Eastern Pirates at 1PM.
