Shillong, Mar 23: YBSC Shella became the second team to qualify for the semifinals of the 6th Knockout Football Tournament, organised by Wahiajer SC, after they defeated Seng Samla Phlongiñkhaw SC 4-2 on penalties today.
The second quarterfinal fixture saw regulation time end 1-1 between the two teams.
Seng Samla Phlongiñkhaw took the lead in the 44th minute via Pyntngen Nongrum but this was cancelled out by YBSC Shella’s Brilliant Chyne in the 50th. Penalties were thus required and here YBSC Shella edged out their opponents.
The man-of-the-match award went to the victors’ Adharsh Thapa (pictured).
The third quarterfinal will take place tomorrow between Azariah and Da I Hi SC at 2PM.
