Shillong, Mar 24: Umphrup (pictured) overcame a one goal deficit to beat Umphyrnai 4-1 in their 1st Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament, organised by the Seng Samla Smit Pyllun and Smit SC, today.
The match was scheduled for 25th March but was brought forward by a day on account of Umphyrnai having another game on the 26th.
Umphyrnai took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to a goal by Donkupar Kharkongor but Umphrup struck back rapidly via Wanlambor Kharumnuid (13′), Freddy Kharbyngar (16′), Joinborlang Kharumnuid (46′) and Bannangkiew Khriam (55′).
Kharbyngar was named man-of-the-match, the tournament Organising Secretary, Syntem Kamwamut Nengnong, informed.
The next match will be on Saturday between Real Mythics of Smit and Eastern Pirates at 1PM.
