Shillong, May 8: St Anthony’s and St Edmund’s won the Shillong Cricket Association’s U-15 and U-18 boys’ tournaments respectively to bring a conclusion to the 2021-22 season yesterday.

The final of the 15th IP Das Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament was a close-run event as St Anthony’s held off Madarsa Hemaytul Islam School by just five runs.

St Ants won the toss and batted first, making 80/4 in 12 overs, with Ashish Lohar scoring 22 and Siddharth Das 21. Md Sahil bagged 2/18.

In reply, Madarsa Hemaytul Islam were all out for 75. Md Wahid top-scored with 17, while Rithick Kshir (3/4) and Siddharth Das (2/11) were the most successful bowlers.

It was more one-sided in the final of the 12th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament, with Edmund’s chasing 102 for victory for the loss of only three wickets. Kshitij Singhania made 33 and Trinayan Dutta 22 in the handsome win.

Earlier, KV Upper Shillong made 101/4 in 15 overs after being made to bat first. Dipayan Nandi struck 33 and Rajib Mandal 21.

Chief Secretary Rebecca V Suchiang was the chief guest on the final day. Besides the champions’ trophies, there were also individual awards to give out.

In the U-18 category, the Best Batter was Trinayan Dutta of St Edmund’s, Best Bowler Harshvardhan Singhania (St Edmund’s), Player of the Final Kshitij Singhania (St Edmund’s), Player of the Tournament Kshitij Singhania (St Edmund’s) and Most Disciplined Team All Saints School.

In the U-15 category, the Best Batter was Md Wahid (Madarsa Hemaytul Islam), Best Bowler Md Sahil (Madarsa Hemaytul Islam), Player of the Final Siddharth Das (St Anthony’s) and Player of the Series Ashish Lohar (St Anthony’s).
