Laitkor win first women’s knockout football tournament in Smit

Shillong, Dec 31: Laitkor SC defeated Lawei 2-0 in the final of the 1st Women Football Open to All Knockout Tournament in Smit today.

The tournament was organised by Lawei Sports & Cultural Organisation. It began on 23rd December.

It took until the 40th minute before the first goal was scored by Makrisha Songthiang for Laitkor and, 16 minutes later, her team mate Iaraplang Nongrum added the second to lift the trophy.

Cabinet minister Dasakhiat Lamare was the chief guest on the occasion and Sordar of Smit Pynshongdor Lyngdoh Nongbri was guest of honour, the Secretary of Lawei SCO, Mebanrikupar Lyngdoh Mawphlang, said.

Individual awards were given to Banrisha Wahlang of Laitkor as Best Goalkeeper, Rushia Dkhar of Dashing Devil as Top Scorer and Santida Nongrum of Laitkor as Best Player.
