Meghalaya runners take top positions in Mumbai Marathon 2023

Shillong, Jan 16: A team of 14 runners from RunMeghalaya took part in the Mumbai Marathon on Sunday, with several of them finishing on the podium of their respective age categories.

Among the male runners, Tlanding Wahlang took first place in the 40-45 category, Marvin Kharkongor was third among the 25-30s while Jomsing Ramsiej came second in the 35-40 category.

Of the Meghalaya women, Darishisha Iangjuh secured third place among the amateur runners besides placing first in the 25-30 category. Bandasharai Marwein crossed the line in third in the same division and Snora Lyngkhoi was third in the 45-50 category.

Kmoinlang Wahlang, meanwhile, was the only competitor among women 70 and above.

The team has also paid tribute to fellow runner Daphika Pakyntein, who’s first year death anniversary coincided with the event. The team members also expressed gratitude for the immense support given by Maximillian Lyngdoh, Jefferson Kharnaior, Shaikupar Kharshiing, Garry Umdor, Dr Kyrshan Lynrah and Dr Danny Hek, which helped them participate in the race.
