Malki, Lumpyngad to meet in 2nd Division Shillong Cricket League final

Shillong, Feb 9: Malki CC and Lumpyngad CC won their respective semifinals of the Shillong Cricket League Second Division, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today and will meet in the subsequent final.

In the first match, Cluster CC won the toss against Malki and batted first, making 118 all out in 19.4 overs. Govind Sharma struck 31 from 16 balls, while Raymond Mylliempdah took 3/23 and Apjolson Marwein 2/22. In reply, Malki won with a ball to spare for the loss of seven wickets. Mylliempdah led the way with 61 from 53 deliveries and was named Player of the Match.

The other match saw Lumpyngad bat first after winning the toss against Metallica CC and amass 161/6 in 20 overs. Mukesh hit 34 from 20 deliveries and Abhay Kr Rai 34 from 23. In reply, Metallica were all out for 99 in 20 overs, with Rahul Barua top-scoring with 25. Mukesh scalped 4/7 in 4 overs and was named Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, in yesterday’s Third Division semifinals, New Heaven and Sportive Juniors reached the final.

In the first semifinal match, between New Heaven and Golflink XI Stars, New Heaven won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 143/10 in 19.3 overs. Anupam Paul top-scored with 39 off 29 balls. Prem Mahato was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/31 in 3.3 overs. In reply, Golflinks XI were bundled out for 69 in 15.3 overs. Player of the Match Pankaj Chanda took a five-wicket haul, giving away just 16 runs in 4 overs and New Heaven won the match by 74 runs.

In the second semifinal match, between Sportive Juniors and Nongpdeng CC, Nongpdeng won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 140/5 in 20 overs. Donboklang Kharkongor made 32 off 34. Saurav Bhushan took 2/22 in 4 overs. In reply, Sportive chased down the total in 19.1 overs, scoring 144/6. Player of the Match Bappan Dutta smashed 79 off 60 balls, Robertjune Khongsieh bagged 2/21 in 4 overs and Sportive won by four wickets.
