Shillong, Feb 11: The 2nd District League T20 Cricket Tournament of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association began today with two matches taking place.
In the first game, Lumpaia Avengers CC won the toss and chose to bat against Cricket Lovers of Sohra. Lumpaia were all out for 93 in 18.4 overs, with Ralphy Heinrich Diengdoh top-scoring with 24 from 22 deliveries, while Mehraf Hussain Sarkar bagged 4/17 in 3.4 overs.
In reply, Cricket Lovers reached the target for the fall of six wickets in 18.4 overs. Orlando Nongbri claimed 3/18 in 4 overs for Lumpaia but Mukhramul H Sarkar hit 45 from 36 and was named Player of the Match.
The second match saw Marbisu win the toss and choose to bowl first. They restricted Thynroit SCC to 100/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Mandari Dkhar top-scored with 19, while Mansuk M Kurbah snatched 3/13 in 4 overs.
Marbisu ran it close but ultimately achieved the target with a wicket to spare off the final ball of the match. Dapkupar Nongrum hit 23 and was named Player of the Match. Shemphang Nongbri took 3/21 in a losing cause.
