Shillong, Feb 13: Meghalaya edged Manipur 1-0 in their second Group B match of the final round of the 76th Men’s National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy in Bhubaneswar today.
Brolington Warlarpih’s 62nd minute goal was all that separated the two North East teams at the Capital Football Stadium.
Two changes were made to the Meghalaya team today, with Donborlang Nongkynrih and Ronaldkydon Lyngdoh Nonglait making way for Banskhemlang Mawlong and Manbhakupar Iawphniaw in the starting XI.
The win gives Meghalaya their first points on the board after they lost 2-0 to Services on Saturday.
In other results from the group today, Services defeated West Bengal 2-1 and Railways beat Delhi 1-0.
That leaves Services in pole position in the group with 6 points. Manipur, Meghalaya and Railways have 3 each, while West Bengal and Delhi have 1 each.
Meghalaya will next take on Railways on Wednesday.
