Shillong, Mar 20: West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association defeated East Khasi Hills Cricket Association by nine wickets on the opening day of the U-14 Girls Inter District Cricket T20 2023 in Nongpyndeng, West Khasi Hills, today.

The other scheduled match, however, between Shillong Cricket Association and West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association, had to be abandoned due to poor weather conditions.

The WJH-EKH match was reduced to 12 overs a side and EKH won the toss and batted first. They were restricted to 59/3, with a top score of 16 by Sweetcemary Khongthiang. Sawakahi Syngkon (1/5), Linimandakini Ksoo (1/7) and Sareeka Jat (1/25) picked up a wicket each.

Syngkon was out second ball to Eliza Lyngdoh (1/9) but WJH were powered to the target by Player of the Match Anastesia S Shullai (pictured), who made 29 not out from 31 deliveries. WJH got to the finish line with plenty of overs to spare, making 60/1 in 8.2 overs.
