Shillong, Mar 27: Shillong Cricket Association-A marched into the final of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023 by defeating East Garo Hills District Cricket Association by an innings and 210 runs in their semifinal match in Umbuda, Ri-Bhoi, today.
The two-day match was thus wrapped up in just one as SCA-A made 292/5 declared after winning the toss and batting first. They then dismissed EGH for 54 and then 24 after enforcing the follow-on.
SCA-A struck their runs at a rate of knots, batting for just 37 overs to nearly reach 300. Dipayan Nandi top-scored with 87 from 60 balls (9x4s, 6x6s), while Rudra Singh Rathor made 65 from 69 (9x4s) and Aashish K Lohar 48 not out from 21 (5x4s, 4x6s). Paisal Ali claimed the best figures for EGH, taking 4/93.
Ali top-scored for EGH in their first innings with 24 but his team mates found it tough going against Gaurav J Thakuria, who bagged 6/23. Mewankitbok M Kharpuri (2/11) and Advay Ratan Surana (2/15) shared the other wickets between them.
The second innings was even more devastating, with Kharpuri scalping 7/7 (match figures of 9/18) and Thakuria 3/12 (match figures of 9/35). Kharpuri, who also scored 17 with the bat, was named Player of the Match.
