Shillong, Mar 30: Sunrisers CC edged Riatsamthiah by just 2 runs in a close-run Shillong Cricket League First Division semifinal at Polo Ground here today.
Sunrisers won the toss and chose to bat first and made 146 all out in 34.4 overs. Basant Chettri made 26 and Joydeep Ghosh 25 in the face of good bowling from Riatsamthiah’s Mickey Marngar (4/25) and Ribok Hynniewta (3/24).
Hynniewta led the way with the bat as well, hitting 25, while Ibitlang Thabah scored 21, but Riatsamthiah were unable to squeeze through to victory, being dismissed for a total of 144 in 33.3 overs. Bikash Mahato bagged 5/21 for Sunrisers, while Basu Chettri took 2/17.
