Shillong, Apr 26: Five Meghalaya women will be taking part in the Indian Women’s League 2022-23, which is all set to begin today in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The five are (pictured left to right) Iawanlang Nongbet, Sanfida Nongrum, Sunalinda Iawren, Fragrancy Riwan and Nisilia Majaw.
Nongrum will be representing Sports Odisha, while Majaw and Iawren will be in the colours of Misaka United of Bengaluru. Riwan and Nongbet will play for Lords Football Academy from Kerala.
There is no club from Meghalaya as the state still doesn’t have a women’s league of its own.
There are 16 clubs taking part this year split into two groups of eight. Gokulam Kerala are the defending champions.
Misaka and Sports Odisha are in Group A, while Lords FA in Group B. All the Group A teams will be in action today.
