Shillong, Jul 8: The 8th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship was held from 29th June to 2nd July at the Assam Regimental Centre in Happy Valley.
This year there were 60 shooters who took part and, on the final day, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Chief Executive Member Pyniaid Sing Syiem was the chief guest.
Events at the championship comprised 10m (indoor) air pistol and air rifle, 25m (outdoor) standard pistol and 50m (outdoor) rifle. Overseeing it all was Rituraj Bhagawati, a judge from the National Rifle Association of India.
The podium finishers this year were Banrilang Bleine, Wanpliborlang Nongsiej, Abhay Mukharjee, S Rebecca, Veronica Buhroy, Amalisha N Sangma, Khawborlang Jyrwa, Rijun Kharbani, Malvin Kurbah, Christina Kharbuli, John Thounaojam, Walsall M Momin, Mawdaker Marwein, Toiaibha Mylliempdah, Da-i-labynta Ryntathiang, Sumita Paul, Sahil Sinha, Lamphrang Mame Allya, Divieja Om Bali, Davis NR Marak, Bapynkmen Ajar, John Kharshiing, Rajdeep Ghosh, Anjali Singh, Jeremy Nongrum, Marbarisha Mylliempdah, Anthony Lakiang, Shirley Mary Kharbuli, Balarisha Rani, Pynskhem Surong, Mathiush Sangma, Bibatdor M Syiem, Verisha Maring and Balarishisha Rani.
The top shooters will represent Meghalaya at the upcoming North East Zonal Shooting Championship 2023, scheduled to be held in August.
